Kajabi’s Branded Mobile App

1. About

Kajabi is an all-in-one platform that makes it easy to create, market, and sell online courses. It provides everything you need in one place: you can design your website, set up your course content, manage your email marketing, and handle payments. It’s a toolkit for turning your knowledge into an online business without needing technical skills.

As part of that toolkit, Kajabi has a member mobile app with which course members can sign in to consume their creator’s content. For the last little while, creators had voiced they didn’t like that this app was branded as “Kajabi” and that it displays other creator’s content, not only their own.

In 2023, Kajabi released a waiting list to start offering the Branded Mobile App, with which customers would be able to create their own customised mobile app. By the end of the year Kajabi had over 5k sign ups and Kajabi decided to launch a Beta version which consisted on the same Kajabi member app but with a couple of brand customizations available such as logo or colors.

2. Problem

Creators needed more features, differentiation from the member app, and customization to justify the price of Branded Mobile App subscription.

3. Research

What were creators trying to achieve?

To grow revenue by acquiring new paying customers, and expand revenue with their existing customers through increased retention and upsell/cross sell mechanisms.

How could they achieve it?

They need to consistently provide value through engagement (communities) and products (courses, coaching, and memberships). Mobile app is a proven high reach and engagement channel for educational and community-based content. Thus, having a mobile app increases Hero's ability to engage with their members, which ultimately unlocks new levels of growth.

Value Proposition

The outcome of this project will be offering creators,

  • Branding customization - to apply their branding and add interactive features with no coding skills required.

  • Easy monetization - in-app payments and subscriptions for a seamless, two-tap purchase experience.

  • Engagement with their members - spin up a community, offer coaching sessions or do a live stream.
